• The Russo-Afghan war of 1885 (against the Russians)
• The Ghilzai Rebellion 1886-7 (regulars v. tribesmen)
• Mohammed Ishak's Rebellion 1888 (regulars v. regulars)

In the wars between Afghan regular forces, tribesmen would be used on both sides.
